Ptera! Torikera! Tyrano! PuToTyrano-Zaurus!!
If you are up to date with Kamen Rider OOO then you probably love that Henshin song as well. Alas the Barney I mean the Purple Core Medals arrive in the DX O-Medal Set 04!
These are the core medals that create the so called “Invincible Combo” as once OOOs unleashes this transformation he is pretty much unstoppable and prone to go berserk. This reminds me of when Kuuga transformed into Ultimate the first time and went berserk against his opponent. It seems to me that almost every powerful transformation in the Kamen Rider series tends to have some risk of running berserk. But enough about that, let’s focus on this set itself.
When Medal Set 04 was first released, fans and collectors alike were hunting these down like gold. I remember the first week people were commenting on how they were stalking the online retailers or how they would spend all night waiting on this set to be restocked just to purchase one. I may be a collector but my rational self would never allow me to do such a thing…..EVER!!!
So being patient rewarded me with the chance of acquiring this set as well as some other goodies from the Hobby Link Japan online store. And once I got them I did what every other geek would do…..play with them before shooting the video review lol!!
So the core medals are exactly detailed just as the show ones are. I really like how the Ptera core medal resembles the Pink rangers Power coin from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show or the Pink Zyuuranger if you watched the Japanese counterpart of the show. The design for the Torikera and Tyrano medals are also cool to view. Also to note, the head core medal has a darker purple coloring while the Torikera has a lighter hue to it.
Pop them in the OOO Driver and scan them to get the epic Henshin song for PuToTyrano! I really like how that song plays out. It has that “I am going to destroy you!” feel to it.
Overall, they are the same as all DX Core Medals with the die cast rims and the lines to identify their corresponding type. They are a nice addition to anyone who is out there collecting the medals or for those who like to cosplay. Right now they are accessible to at most retailers but I would recommend getting them from HLJ since they have an abundant amount in stock.
